Enabling Secure Software Development in 2025
As we kick off 2025, Chainguard is building on the results and success we delivered for our customers and community in 2024. Over the past year, we reached key milestones: expanding our catalog to include over 1,000 container images, saving our customers more than 200,000 engineering hours by patching 55,000+ CVEs, and hiring over 200 new Chainguardians worldwide committed to building a new, safe way for companies to utilize containers. These accomplishments position us for an even more exciting year ahead.
In 2025, we're focused on scaling these successes to deliver even more innovation, impact, and growth. Here's how we're shaping the future — together.
Building and Innovating: 600+ New Container Images
One of the most significant milestones of this past year was the creation of over 600 new container images in the Chainguard catalog, which pushes the number of available images to over 1,000! At Chainguard, we are committed to making secure software development the easy choice – all the way down the stack. The control we get from building every component from source, combined with cutting-edge automation, allows us to rebuild secure-by-design images daily. Our images are built from scratch with only the components needed for a specific language or application based on our own Linux distro. We are the fastest in the world at patching down to every possible dependency for everything from the most complex OSS application projects to OS tools. This is how we deliver images independently verified to be zero CVEs and support stringent hardening requirements like FIPS. Customers leverage our expanding catalog of containers for a pre-built secure foundation to their services. From the most sophisticated DevOps teams to ones just getting started with containers, Chainguard allows developers to ship software quickly, securely, and at scale.
Check out our catalog and see for yourself – we’re building new images almost daily. There’s much more to come in the year ahead!
Efficiency Gains: Over 200,000 Engineering Hours Saved
At Chainguard, we understand the power of efficiency. This year, we remediated over 55,000 CVEs, saving our customers a staggering 200,000+ engineering hours. By making a large amount of vulnerability remediation and reporting unnecessary and providing containers hardened for standards like FIPS, Chainguard reduces engineering costs, dramatically cuts software supply chain attack risks, unlocks new market opportunities, and enables our customers to focus their valuable time and energy on what they do best — innovating.
Community Growth: 100+ New Customers
We’ve had the privilege of partnering with over 100 new customers this year. As companies of all sizes and sectors look for new ways to more efficiently and securely scale containerized workloads and accelerate development cycles, they increasingly turn to Chainguard as the de facto solution. We are proud to have built a community of users dedicated to building software the modern, secure way, and will continue to foster growth and long-lasting relationships as the amount of Chainguard Images users grows.
Team Expansion: Over 200 New Chainguard Employees
Chainguard’s growth isn’t restricted to our products alone — our team has expanded too. This year, we welcomed more than 200 new employees, significantly expanding our capabilities and expertise across all functional departments. We’re proud of the culture we’re building and scaling, with each team member bringing new perspectives, skills, and experiences. From software engineering to customer success, our new hires have been instrumental in propelling the company forward, equipping us with the resources we need to solve today and tomorrow’s problems for our customers. Building a Community: Over 1,000 Memes
And of course, what would a Chainguard blog be without memes? While we’re deeply focused on product excellence, we also believe that a fun, engaging work culture is essential to our success. That’s why it’s worth noting that in 2024, over 1,000 memes were shared within the Chainguard team! One of Chainguard’s core values is doing serious work, but not taking ourselves too seriously, and the amount of memes being shared on a day-to-day basis is the perfect embodiment of that value. The meme-sharing culture at Chainguard has become a way to build camaraderie and connect with one another, even in the midst of intense work. We’ve been sharing our love for memes for a while (see our walk down meme-mory lane), and don’t plan to stop any time soon!
Looking Ahead to 2025
As we head into 2025, the future looks even brighter (and if you’re our CEO and co-founder Dan Lorenc, it’s also an opportunity for predictions and hot takes)! With our steadfast commitment to innovation, a community of amazing customers, and a fast-growing and diverse team supporting them, Chainguard is poised for even greater success in 2025. We’re excited to continue pushing the boundaries as we become the world’s most trusted source for open source software and help our customers execute. Stay tuned for what’s to come — this is just the beginning for Chainguard.
