Chainguard CVE Visualizations: Now Generally Available

Angela Zhang, Product Manager, and Aaditya Jain, Senior Product Marketing Manager

We’re excited to announce the General Availability (GA) release of CVE Visualizations, the latest reporting feature in the Chainguard Console. This milestone introduces new functionality that enhances the ability of Chainguard users to quantify the benefits of Chainguard’s minimal, zero-CVE container images for all stakeholders across their organization.

What’s New in GA? 🚀

With the GA launch, CVE Visualizations includes new capabilities that help customers demonstrate the engineering, security, and economic benefits of adopting Chainguard Images.

  1. Resolved CVEs: Customers can now see the exact number of CVEs Chainguard has remediated in their subscribed images over time, providing direct visibility into how Chainguard saves their engineering teams countless hours of CVE management.

  2. CVEs Accumulated Over Time: Users can also compare CVE accumulation rates between Chainguard Images vs. open source alternatives, providing a clear line of sight into how Chainguard’s philosophy of purpose-specific, minimal containers significantly reduce container attack surface.

  3. Expanded Public Access: The CVE Visualizations functionality is now integrated directly into the Chainguard Directory, making the process of image evaluation and comparison fully accessible to everyone.

Why CVE Visualizations Matter 📊

Organizations often run into an endless struggle of CVE management, with constant accumulation of CVEs taking up engineering hours that would be better spent on product development. We’ve heard from many of our customers that getting a handle on their true CVE footprint is hard to quantify. Because it’s so hard to quantify the impact and cost, engineering teams plug away at CVE management without an effective strategy or end in sight, and business leaders aren't able to collect the data required to change their existing failing workflows.

With Chainguard Images, organizations start at zero CVEs and stay there without additional engineering cost. With our new CVE Visualizations functionality, organizations can better understand and communicate the benefits of adopting Chainguard Images and the true cost of ongoing CVE management. CVE Visualizations empowers you with a transparent, single source of truth for CVE data that is easily shareable to your stakeholders.
